Zero waste programs are the fastest and most cost effective ways that local governments, institutions and businesses can contribute to reducing climate change, protect health, create green jobs and promote local sustainability.  Many governments and communities have adopted such strategies, recognizing the potential of local initiatives in tackling environmental crises.

In this regard, we would like to invite you to attend the 6th Zero Waste International Dialogue. The annual event, which carries an overarching theme, “Zero Waste Solutions in the Face of Climate, Chemical and Financial Crises,” will gather local government officials and representatives from non-government organizations, businesses and schools to discuss strategies and programs towards creating zero waste communities. It will be held at the Puerto Princesa City Coliseum, Palawan, from November 18 to 21, 2009.

The 6th Zero Waste International Dialogue was organized by Mother Earth Foundation and the Zero Waste International Alliance (ZWIA), with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the National Solid Waste Management Commission and the League of Municipalities of the Philippines.
